2nd April 2006 saw the start of the Maxbashing championship in guilford. The weather looked good and the track was primed thanks to the hard work the Max Bashers have put in over the past few months.

Maxbashing and its ever growing success has brought the attention of some top pro drivers from around the country, Mike Craddock - Kyosho, Jamie Booth - Hong Nor, Mark Knight - Hong Nor, so the competition was going to be hard and close fort.

The Mirage Monsters were ready for some good racing, the day got under way at 9:30 sharp with 120 drivers attending & over 40 in the Truggy class alone.

Heat 1 Unlimited, Tony G sets a good pace with 6 laps in 325.85 with his revamped HPI Savage.

Heat 5 Outlaw, Joe J sets a good start with 6 laps in 303.15 with Tony G in 2nd with 6 laps in 341.27.

Heat 7 Outlaw, Karl D sets a Heat TQ with 7 laps in 334.13 (top racing Karl)

Then the heavens opened and Glastonbury seemed not so far away when 6 inches of sticky wet MUD appeared on track.

This saw many of the later heats with no drivers, many choosing to sit it out due to track conditions & the rain. Lunchtime the remaining drivers decided to vote on "to race" "not to race", after a very close count up it was nearly a 50/50 split, but there were a few more votes to race! So the decision was made to carry on racing in true Maxbashing style.

The TQ positions were left from the first round at the start of the day, and left many drivers down the field. Joe, Phil & Tony only managed 11th 12th 13th  in the B Final Outlaw, Karl did a fantastic job and qualified in 5th in A final Outlaw along side Jamie, Mike, & Mark.Knight

The finals got under way with rain overhead and lots of MUD on track. Joe & Phil struggled in the conditions and pulled up after only 1 lap each, Tony faired a little better with 2 laps..

Karl had his work cut out after scoring a superb qualifing position in the A, again conditions prevailed and Karl had no choice other than to pull up after 1 lap to save his engine!

Tony G in Unlimited clocked a good heat and set him 4th in A final. The track was getting even harder to drive and he only completed 1 lap to take the points for 4th place.

Overall the team had a really good day and had lots of fun under the circumstances, on track was not such a good start for this season but everything is to play for in the next 6 rounds.
