This is Lee, holding Glyn's newest FG car. It is a model of the Williams BMW FW24 and is based on the FG competition 08 Formula 1 car. It sports hydraulic brakes at each corner and is capable of speeds of around 70mph!

Sunday 30th March saw the 1st Novarossi 5 hour endurance race at the wonderful Novarossi Raceway venue in Rayleigh, Essex.

The event was unique in that the race was a “handout engine” event. This means that all each team are provided with a factory sealed engine and has 1 hour to install and run in the engine prior to running the engine for 5 hours straight!!

Horizon Hobby UK Ltd sponsored the event and provided the new 3-port 21 size Novarossi 367 engine and a bunch of prizes and trophies.

The 11 competing teams employed various strategies. Some ran many different cars, swapping out the engine between cars, some teams used a different radio per driver and 1 car, some had 1 car and 1 radio between all the team. The cars in all teams were either 1/8th buggies or 1/8th truggies.

Either way the team that carried the day was “TEAM TOSI” captained by Big Wayne Pratley with a staggering 367 laps, although it was still a close run thing with the second team only 5 laps behind after 5 hours of racing!

Team Essex Monsters
The shop entered a team under the name of “Essex Monsters” and we decided to run a bog standard Hotbodies Lightning Sport Truggy, the boys did well they finished a credible 5th only 41 laps behind the winners and were the fastest truggy in the race!. In terms of damage after 5 hours, it was only 1 body post and a broken CVD. So well done to Glyn Jones, Tony Gomez, Carl Dilworth, Phil Cracknell and Barry Mesner
